Hip Hop Hangover - August 28, 2009

It's Friday and time for another Hip Hop Hangover!

I did not have enough time to make something using a tree from Unity so instead I have my last scrapbook page from my trip to Maine last year.

We make it a point to walk the Marginal Way that goes along the coast from Ogunquit to Perkins Cove. It's a beautiful and peaceful walk with several picture opportunities. When we get to Perkins Cove, we always stop at the candy store for a special little treat, they have great coconut macaroons! I guess that defeats the purpose of taking a walk but oh well! LOL!

Make Your Own Buttons

Hello my blogging friends! I am back from my vacation in Maine. Unfortunately, I ran out of scheduled posts for my blog. Sorry! I am hoping to get some computer time tonight to post some more.

In the meantime, I can across a very interesting thread on SCS about making your own buttons. I love buttons!! I never seem to have the right size, shape or color since I recently began my collection. Check this out:

Tea Time

A friend at work made a quilt for her sister that had tea pots on it. She asked me to make her a card to go with. I told her that I had the perfect stamp set to use. The colors on this card match the colors used in the quilt.

This was one of the best parts of our trip. For the first time ever, we got the Disney dining plan. We ate at some amazing restaurants that we probably would never have been to without it! Yum! One this page it shows that we ate at Wolfgang Puck, Coral Reef and Teppan Edo in Japan.

This card was for Color Combination #230. It was to use Close to Cocoa, Certainly Celery, Cameo Coral, Blush Blossom and Whisper White. I love how this card came out. I think the squares backed in coral really make them pop!

Colorful Bird

I used the Color Combination #229 to help me make this card for a guest designer for Unity next month. Their challenge was to use 1 stamps, 2 patterned papers and 3 embellishments. This paper matched the colors on the bird perfectly!

This card covers two challenges, Color Combinations #229 and Unity's Challenge YSHLUA11. The color combination was certainly celery, pixie pink, apricot appeal and a neutral. The YSHLUA11 challenge was to use a certain number of layers calculated using your age, 2 kinds of sparkle and a nature image. Wow, that was alot of requirements! But I did it and I love it!

Cuttlebug Embossing Folders vs. Spellbinders Impressabilities

This is my second posting for today. Please scroll down to see the first one!

I made a suggestion to my LSS, Life's Memories and More, to start carrying Spellbinders Impressabilities. She already carries Nestabilities and these Impressabilities are great! So I offered to make samples for her store to show her customers the difference between them and the Cuttlebug embossing folder.

Here is a card using the Cuttlebug embossing folder:


I used Textile Texture because the store owner, Tanya, likes this folder but has a difficult time using it.

Here is a close up for you to see the texture:


Now, here is the same card in a different color using the Spellbinders Impressabilities:


I used the Flower one as this background. When I ran it through my Cuttlebug I used this sandwich:

Plate A, Plate C, Impressabilities Template, Cardstock, Embossing Mat, Plate B

This was a little too thick and I was afraid that I was going to break off the handle. I think that next time I will replace the Plate C with another Plate B and shim it if necessary.

I hope that I was able to show you the difference in the textures of these two products!!

About two weeks ago, we got together with some friends that my hubby snowmobiles with in the winter. All the guys knew each other but this was a chance for the wives to meet each other too.
