Feature Friday #4

Wow, where has this month gone?! This week's challenge for Feature Friday at The Character Cafe is to use leftover Halloween paper (or orange/black or purple/black color combo) for a non-Halloween card with glitter. This was rather easy for me. I have a friend at work whose birthday is on Halloween so I made this purple and black card for her birthday!

Since glitter and I do not get along well, I used the crystal effects to cover the top of the cupcake and the top of the brad and sprinkled it with glitter. I did only manage to make a minimal mess!

Supplies:
Stamps: The Character Cafe - Cupcake Pewter
Paper: PTI White, GP White, Basic Black, Lovely Lilac DP
Ink: Cat's Eye Chalk - Wisteria
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Blending Stumps, Baby Oil, Primas, Brad, Crystal Effects, Glitter

Taking Leaps

This card is very fitting and I did not realize it until I just uploaded it. I took a leap this past weekend, I bought my first Copics! I know that I said that I was happy with my Prismacolor pencils but curiousity got the best of me and I had craft money that was burning a hole in my pocket. I bought 12 sketch markers at Inspiration Station in Stafford Springs, CT on Saturday when I met my SCS friend Elizabeth in person for the first time.

Since I color alot of animals, I bought: 0, E31, E33, E49, E57, E99, W0, W2, YG03, YG17, YG67, BG000. This covered my browns, grays, greens and gave me a light blue for shadowing. I colored some digital images that I printed out on Georgia Pacific White cardstock first. It worked pretty good. I noticed that the color can run out of the lines so I was careful not to get too close to the edge. So I stamped a few images onto PTI White to see the difference and it is much better.

I had to play with them as soon as I got home. I LOVE THEM!!!! Then I ordered 19 more from Carpe Diem since they were on sale for $4.25 each and had free shipping when you spent $80 on Copic Sketch markers only. So I got 2 of each of yellow, orange, purple, pink, blue, flesh, warm gray and 4 red and one more brown. I should be happy for some time. I want to play with these before getting any more so that I know what shades of what colors to buy next.

Supplies:
Stamps: The Greeting Farm - Down By The Pond
Paper: PTI White, GP White, Bashful Blue, Making Memories DP, DCVW DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics (YG03, YG17, BG000)
Accessories: Cuttlebug, Circle Nestabilities (Classic), Sliders, SU 1-3/8" Square Punch, SU 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon - Certainly Celery

Feature Friday - Stitching

Let's take care of business first. I have picked winner for the Christmas Eve image from last week's blog hop, and it is ...

~Michelle~ said...
Love, love, love your button treatment! FUN! :)

Please contact Kendra at kendra@thecharactercafe.com to receive your free image. Please be sure that to tell her that you won it from my blog. Thanks to everyone for stopping by and leaving comments for my first blog hop!

Now onto the fun for today ...

This week's Feature Friday at The Character Cafe is being hosted by Billie. She has chosen to add stitching onto your card for the challenge. Check out all the great examples by Billie and her group at The Character Cafe blog!

I have chosen to color Pilgrim Petra & Turkey. I'm not sure if I used the right colors on her outfit but it looks good to me. To incorporate stitching into my card, I used the Bazzill In Stitch Stitching Templates. I found these at my local scrapbook store and I thought this would be a perfect chance to use them. They are so easy to use! You just line up the template where you want it and using the piecer, punch all the holes to create your pattern. Then I followed the punches holes using a needle and embroidery floss to stitch out the pattern. To keep the embroidery floss in place when starting and ending, I taped it down with Scotch tape. It adds a nice affect to my card with minimal work!

Supplies:
Stamps: The Character Cafe - Pilgrim Petra & Turkey
Paper: PTI White, GP White, Chocolate Chip, SU Brocade Background DP
Ink: Cat's Eye Chalk - Chestnut Roan
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Blending Stumps, Baby Oil, Bazzil In Stitch Stitching Template - Granny Stitches, Embroidery Floss
