Well I did it! I finished my first knitting project. Here it is:
I started this last Sunday when I took my first knitting class. It only took me 8 days to complete it and I never picked up needles before. My only complain is that I think that I made it to wide, I casted off 30 stitches. I would rather have it longer than thicker. It will still work though. Don't you love the little bit of personality it has with the lump on on of the ends. That's where I first started and I was accidentally adding stitched with each row. Oops, I figured it out though! I am very happy with it!
Supplies:
Yarn: Plymouth Yarn - Encore Worsted Tweed #5539
Needles: Size 8
Well done! I've just started knitting again this winter. My mum taught me when I was nine and I suddenly decided to pick it up again (10 years later) and it was so easy to get back into the rhythm of knitting. I'm working on my fourth square of a blanket, which means I get to try lots of different colours and types of wool! I too found myself adding stitches in by accident. I can generally pick up a stitch when I drop it, but only if I notice it immediately. Otherwise I need to take it to my mum and ask her to fix all my mistakes :P So yes, my knitting has personality as well!
ReplyDeleteI've only ever knitted with size 5 needles - I wonder if this is thinner than normal? Is there a reason why your knitting teacher got you to use 8s?
Wow! What a fabulous knitting project! Love it!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, it is healthy to try something new. You did a great job. I've always wanted to learn how to crochet, but have the hardest time finding someone to teach me since I'm a lefty.
ReplyDeleteYOU are awesome!
