My Favorite Zipper Pouch

I found another great pouch tutorial on Pinterest, I love that website!  It is called My Favorite Zipper Pouch by Jedi Craft Girl.
Here is my first pouch:

I made these using some layer cakes that I have acquired from Missouri Star Quilt Company.  This one is called Lost and Found 2 by Riley Blake.  These pouches also have the covered end for the zipper.  It is a nice size too, about 8-1/2" wide by 6" wide with a box bottom.

I will be making more of these soon too for my Etsy store!

Lil Cutie Pouches & Box Bag

I've been sewing again this past weekend!

Here are some smaller pouches, called Lil Cutie Pouches, which are perfect for keeping my hand sewing needles, scissors and smaller items for hand sewing.

I acutally made three of these but I kept one for myself to match this box bag:

I finally got this bag right.  I added tabs at both ends of the zipper and made the handle 8" long instead of 11" on the last one.  Much better!!!

This is my bag for my English Paper piecing.  Don't you think this fabric is so fitting??!!  I found it over at Uberstitch's Etsy Store.  She has an amazing selection of Riley Blake fabric at very reasonable prices.  I bought half a yard of the hexie fabric and made the box bag, 3 smaller pouches and one larger pouch with plenty of scraps to spare and use.

Michelle's Bag Set

I've been on a bag kick lately.  My hubby liked them so much that he asked if I could make a set of them for his friend's friend's wife, Michelle.

Here they are:

Here is the cosmetic bag:

This time, I added a handle that was made with a piece of interfacing lined fabric which was 5" by 11".  I think the handle is a little too long so I will try a 5" by 8" piece next time.  I also want the handle to be on the closed zipper end and add a tab on the open zipper end.

Here is the lined zipper bag:

This zipper bag has covered end!  I like how these look better!  I also trimmed the zipper to 1/4" after adding the tabs to reduce some of the bulk in the corners.  It seemed to help!

I reaily like how these come out!  I think these are two of my favorite bags right now!  I will be making more of these sets soon for my Etsy store!  Keep your eyes open!

Cosmetic Bag

Okay, here's another box bag.  I was attempting to make a larger one and this is the perfect size!

Here it is:

Don't you just love this fabric!  I found it on clearance at Meeting House Fabric in Wales, MA.

This pattern is called Cosmetic Bag Tutorial, which I found on Pinterest thanks to my neighbor's daughter Jackie.  This is the perfect size for my English Paper Piecing stuff!

There is just one little problem, I don't like the sound of the fusible vinyl on the inside of the bag, it crunches.  To fix this, I am going to make one using fusible interfacing and I will also add a carrying handle to one end.  Keep your eyes open for an updated version of this bag with full instructions and step-by-step pictures.

Zippered Pouch

On that same snow day that I made the Quilted Box Bags, I also made some zippered pouches.

Here they are:

Hers are the backs:

See what fun stuff can fit inside one, with plenty of room to spare:

I wanted to have a small zippered pouch to keep my notions and crochet hooks in.  I love how these came out!  They are the perfect width for crochet hooks!  This pattern is called Zippered Wristlet/Pouch Made Easy, which I found on Pinterest.

Quilted Box Bags

During one of my snow days this month, I sewed some quilted box bags.

Here they are:

Here is a closer picture of the inside of one of them:

I was looking for a bag to keep and carry my English Paper Piecing around in since camping season will be here before you know it.  I found this pattern, called How to Make a Soft Sewing Bag, on Pinterest and had to try it.  They were easy to assemble considering that I have never worked with zippers before.  My only problem is that this bag could be a little deeper; otherwise, I really like how they came out.

My Crown Jewels Bucket Bag

I am on a bag kick lately.  Here is a bucket bag:

This was an easy bag whose base is worked in the round increasing for several rounds and then 25 rows of single crochets.  It used almost 400 yards of yarn.  I have several large skeins of cotton yarn that I am finally putting to good use!  This will make a great project bag!

Supplies:
Pattern: Crochet Bucket Bag by Lion Brand Yarn
Yarn: Lily's Sugar N' Creme Ombres #W273925 - Crown Jewels Ombre

My Easy Peasy Project Bag

Here's a new project bag that I made for myself:

This is the same bag that I made in this post.  This time I made a larger base, made it taller (since I had plenty of yarn and made a built in handle.  Here are the details of my changes:

I began by chaining 31 for 20 rows. Then I did 45 rounds for the sides of the bag before making the handle. For the handle, I did 19 sc, then ch 12, then skip 12 sts and do 19 sc to finish off one side. Repeat for other side. I did 3 more rows of sc before finishing it off with a row of white sc.

I love the size of this bag.  It is holding 9 cakes of yarn and a bag with hooks and some patterns.  I love it!

Yarn: Bernat Handicrafter Cotton #W275979 - Poppy

My Easy Peasy Crocheted Bag

I sent my buddy bee, Michaela, a skein of Cascade Soft Spun yarn and she was looking for a pattern to use it that was something just for her.  So we both starting looking and we found the Easy Peasy Crochet Bag.  So we both decided to make one.

I started crocheting the bag on Friday night and I got this much done:

So I finished it and added the trim, handles and fabric lining on Sunday when I had some quiet crafting time alone!  Here is the finished product:

Here are the details behind this bag:
  • I used Cascade Soft Soun Yarn.
  • I used a size I hook.
  • I chained 8 to start.
  • I worked the base for 30 rows.
  • I worked 30 rounds for the body of the bag using up all the yarn.
  • I added the trim and handle made from Knit Picks Telemark Sport weight yarn.
  • I used a size F hook for the edging.
  • I braided the handles using 18 pieces of yarn for each handle.
  • For the liner, I used a fat quarter (18" x 22") of fabric following the pattern instructions.
  • I hand stitched the liner to the bag at each single crochet.
I am very happy with how this came out.  I may make some more of theses soon!  My hubby was impressed and thinks they would sell well at work or on Etsy.

Yarn: Cascade Yarns Soft Spun #2837 - Pink and Knit Picks Telemark #23937 - Columbine

Panorama Crocheted Stash Bag

Here is a rather large crochet bag I made to transport my knitting and crocheting projects in:

This bag worked up quickly and took about 300 yards of cotton yarn.  It is a great and roomy bag for carrying quite a few projects!  I have it filled with yarn for a week's vacation to Ohio.  I don't know how much knitting I will get done but I want to have plenty in case I do!

Yarn: Peaches N' Cream #W278453 - Panorama
Hook: I (5.5 mm)

My Sock Project Bag

This is going to be my sock project bag:

I started to make this bag using the magic loop method instead of DPNs as the pattern instructed.  Once the bag was large enough, I switched to circular knitting to complete it.

Right now, I have my first hat project and a dishcloth project along with an extra skein of Lily's Sugar N' Cream yarn for each project and a small bag with accessories.  This bag can hold more than you think it would.

I made this bag to store my current sock project and needles.  Once this bag is completed, I will be ready to attempt to knit my first pair of SOCKS using magic loop!  Wish me luck!

Supplies:
Pattern: Knitting Project Bag from Knit Picks
Yarn: Lion Brand Cotton Easy #112 Berry
Needles: US 7

Hexagonal Market Bag

Here is my first market bag:

This is my first "big" project.  I borrowed some circular needles from a co-worker to make this project before buying some.  I really liked working with them!  I don't hit my bearded dragon in the head with the ends of the needles.  LOL!

I am going to use this bag as a shower bag when we start camping this season.  It is nice because of the mesh and that it is made of cotton and will dry if it gets wet.

Supplies:
Pattern: Hexagonal Market Bag
Yarn: Lily Sugar N' Cream #00084 - Sage
Needles: US 4 & 10-1/2 Circular 24"
