The Judgement (Rose Trilogy #2) - Beverly Lewis

Summary from Good Reads: Rose Kauffman is engaged to Silas Good, a well-liked Amish fellow, so why does she still pine for Nick Franco, the former foster son of the bishop? Especially now that Nick has left the Amish community under a cloud of suspicion after the death of the bishop's biological son? Will Rose marry Silas, even while struggling with romantic feelings for Nick?  Meanwhile, Rose's older sister, Hen, has returned to live at her parents' farm with her young daughter. Hen and her modern husband, Brandon, are separated by mutual agreement, although he is threatening to sue for custody of their daughter if Hen does not return soon. Will the judge rule in Brandon's favor? Is there any way Hen can reestablish her place among the People without sacrificing her marriage?

Rose is dealing with her love of Silas and her memories of Nick.  She knows that she has to move on but after seeing Nick briefly, all the feelings for him come back.  Hen is dealing with the threats of divorse from Brandon.  He has hired a lawyer to prove that Hen is an unfit mother to gain custody of Maddie Sue.  After taking care of Beth while her neighbor was away, Rose's mom, Emnma, decides to take a different course of action for her illness as seen in Beth's dreams.  Will eveything work out for everyone?

I really loved how this story continued.  All members of the Kauffman family is faced with personal issues that could affect their lives forever.  God's plan is eminant throught the book.  I cannot wait to read the third and final book in this series, The Mercy.  I started it right after finishing this one!
