My Arctic Cat Winter Hat

Here is my hat for snowmobiling:

I made it to make my snowmobile!  Since I have made 4 other hats, I figured it was time for me to have one too.  I just wanted a basic hat to wear after snowmobiling and having messy hair after wearing a helmet.  I kept it simple by making it a solid color without stripes this time.  Stripes annoy me!  LOL!

Pattern: Regular Guy Beanie by Chuck Wright
Yarn: Loops & Threads Impeccable Solids #01223 - Grass
Needles: US 7 on 40" Cables

Regular Guy Beanie for Hubby

Here is a hat I made for my hubby:

I casted on 112 stitches and did 2” of 2x2 ribbing. Then I did 15 rows of my MC, then 6 rows of CC and did 10 more rows of MC before beginning the decreases.

I made one (well it took 3 tries though) for hubby last year. But yesterday he was looking for it to go snowmobiling and it was missing. I couldn’t help him look for it because he is hiding my Christmas presents in the closet where it would be (and you know they aren’t wrapped yet)! I bet I’ll find it and then he’ll have 2 hats just in case.

Update: I found it in the closet today after 20 seconds of searching and moving 2 pairs of boots. He’s in trouble now!

Too Big Winter Hat

OMG, do you believe this?  This hat is now too big.

Well at least now I can have hubby put it on and figure out how many less stitches to do for the third try.  But I need to make a few things first because I am sick of making hats that don't fit!  LOL!

Update: I found a home for this hat!  Dia, can you guess who????  He was very grateful!

My Winter First Hat

Here is a hat that I made for my hubby:

He announced in Webs a couple of weekends ago that he wanted me to make him a hat with three colors, gray, black and red to match his snowmobile.  I told him that I need to find a pattern first and I wanted to wait for a sale on yarn instead of buying it at Web's for $4.99 a skein.  These were on sale 2 for $5 at Michael's!

This was my first time making stripes!  After reading about making jogless stripes, these came out perfect!  I am so happy with it!  I now have enough yarn to make several more of these by mixing up the colors since I only used about 100 yards for one.

Unfortunately, this hat was too small to fit hubby.  I have figured out how to adjust the pattern and I will be trying again to make it for him.  This hat was bought by a co-worker to give to her nephew for Christmas so it will be put to good use.

Chemo Cap #4

Here is another Chemo Cap using striped yarn:

I started this on Friday afternoon of Memorial Day weekend.  I wanted a project that I could easily knit without referring to a pattern while hanging out at camp.  Then I finished it last Thursday when I was home with no power after the tornados.

Supplies:
Pattern: Knit One Chemo Cap
Yarn: Lily's Sugar N' Cream Stripes - #21143 Ocean Tides
Needles: US 9 with 40" Cables

Chemo Cap #3

Here's another stripped chemo cap:

I think that I only have one more color of this stripped yarn.  Boohoo!  I need to see if there are some more colors.  These make great caps!

Yarn: Lily's Sugar N' Cream #21712 - Lime Stripes

Chemo Cap #2

Here's another chemo cap:

I love using this yarn!  I love how the stripes magically appear!  They look so cool!
I emailed Shriner's Children's Hospital to tell them what we are doing at work.  Although this facility does not administer chemotherapy, they do have a need for hats since they get several patients from Ecuador and other warmer countries which they are not used to the cold New England weather.  I think the caps that I have made will be useful for the cooler fall temperatures for them.

Pattern: Knit One Chemo Cap
Yarn: Lily's Sugar N' Cream Stripes #21010 - Natural Stripes
Needles: US 9

Chemo Cap #1

At work we started a knitting group called Knotty Knitters.  We knit together during our lunch hour a few times a week.  We have been talking about knitting for charity.  I came up with making Chemo Caps.  Here is my first one:

We are currently collecting chemo caps for Shriner's Children's Hospital in Springfield, MA from now until June 30th.  We will be picking a new place to donate them every quarter.  Next quarter will be donating them to the D'Amour Center for Cancer Care through Baystate Medical Center for breast cancer awareness month.  I cannot wait to see how successful this will be, I will keep you posted!!!
