Saturday's Quilting Event

Well I finally was able to do it, lay out my ginormous king sized quilt on Saturday!!!!  Thanks goodness I was able to have my neighbor, Denise, help me with it since it is 9 feet by 9 feet.  She wants to learn how to quilt so she offered to help me pin it all together.  I think we will just make a simple table runner for her first quilting project so it is a more manageable size!  LOL!

I was able to quilt it all yesterday so I just have to attach the binding and it will be done!  It was not as difficult as I expected!  I did not take any pictures so it will be a surprise when I have finished pictures of it on my blog.  I promise it will be worth it in the end!

My New Toy!

I have a new toy and it is not craft-related!  What???

On Wednesday, Jay and I bought new bicycles.  Here is mine:

It is a Trek 7000 WSD.  My old one was a Giant brand hybrid and was over 10 years old.  It was starting to need some repairs, so we splurged and bought this one for me.  Since I am only 5'1" tall, I really wanted to get a woman's bike since I have been known to almost fall over trying to get off a man's style bike after a long ride.  It is more upright than my other one with larger tires with more pressure for a smoother ride.

Jay also got another bike too.  Yes, I said another one!  He has a expensive Trex mountain bike that he was using when we went out riding and he wanted a street bike similar to what he already had.  He got a Trex 7.5 FX, which cost almost three times what mine did!

Since I am writing this post on Thursday, I am hoping to report back to you on our ride this weekend.  We are planning to head up to the bike path in Northampton, MA on Sunday morning to have their maiden voyages!

Pillow Shams

I finished my king sized pillow shams on Wednesday night!

Isn't this fabric awesome!  I love the bright and bold colors and patterns!  I love it with the black border and backing too.  Jay made a great choice on that one!  Now imagine this as a king sized quilt in a barn raising pattern.  OMG, I cannot wait to finish that!  I am hoping to be able to pin it together sometime next week or next weekend at the latest.

New Store in Town

I was at the neighbor's son's graduation party on Saturday and I learned about something wonderful.  There is a quilt store that just opened up in town in the old St. Monica's Church.  So on Sunday, after my work picnic, I dropped Jay at home and I went to investigate.

OMG, it was gorgeous!  It is in an old church and inside they have tons of fabric which was calling my name.  They are called Meeting House Fabric and Trim (the site is still under construction) and it is located on 83 Main Street (Route 19) in Wales, MA.

I was gone for over an hour!  It was quiet in there so I was able to talk to the owner, Shelia, and the longarm quilter, Charlie.  What wonderful ladies!  The store is only half full and she has so much more to put out and order.  This place is a godsend!  I am in heaven!

So what did I get you ask???  I got 5 fat quarters from the Mother Goose line of fabric from Windham Fabrics.  Here they are:

I thought that they would make some wonderful Dresen Plates for a table runner for a sofa table in my kitchen area.

I was googling the store and I came across this article about the store.  It has some great pictures of inside the store so you can see why I fell in love with it!

Check This Out!

I just love these backgrounds on my cards!  They help make quick and easy cards after they are cut out.  All you have to do is add a sentiment and you are done!

The original file size was 6"x6" and I shrunk it to 4"x5-1/4" for a card front without much distortion.  The circles are more oval now but I did not have any problem cutting it.  Then I added a shadow to it so that I could mat the background onto something.  I love this color on the black!  I think it looks really sharp!

Supplies:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink - Big & Bold Wishes
Paper: PTI White, PTI Hawaiian Shores, Basic Black
Ink: PTI Hawaiian Shores, Archival Jet Black
Accessories: Cricut, Filekutz by LisaJane - Circle Flower Mesh Jumble Background 1 (SKU# lk00040)

Free Wheelin' Teddy Bears Quilt

Here is a baby quilt that I just finished.  It was ordered by a co-worker for one of her friends that recently had a little boy.

The embroidery designs are from Embroidery Library and they are called Free Wheelin' Teddy Bears.  Here is a close up of them so you can see them better.

It worked out perfectly that there were 9 bears since I already had selected the quilt pattern.  I just know that Patryk will love and treasure it!

My First Project ...

... for Filekutz by LisaJane.

My hubby and I went to the Harley Davidson factory tour in York, PA last year. I was really cool! We got to see the motorcylces being assembled right on the factory line. We each took a picture on our favorite motorcycle that were on display.

I made this layout using Harley "Tear Bear" and Tanny "Tear Bear" from FileKutz by LisaJane. You can find them in the store HERE: lk00016 and lk00017. The title and the symbol are from the pamphlet that I saved from the place.
